6 Ways to Tapping into the On-Campus Hidden Job Market (as a Graduating Student) Building Your Future Now If you are a graduating student finding a job is a top priority. There is also a good chance you have a strong source of potential job leads that can help you score a gig right on-campus! Here are a few ways you can tap into the hidden job market as graduating student: 1. Alumni Chances are your University or College has many former graduates. It is a good idea to reach out to former alumni individually or contact the alumni association on campus. These people are experienced, in positions of management and ownership and always looking for talent especially if they are from their old school. 2. Student Union Student Unions have awesome connections for students. Contact them before you graduate and see if they have any connections with other associations, businesses or non-profits that are looking for someone like you. A bonus is being part of a Student Union and being directly linked to helping studentsyou can continue there with a bigger role even after graduating. 3. Career Centre The Campus Career Centre is a free and great resource to visit as a student or as a graduate. They can help you find a job, and also have some connections in the community and hidden job market. It is a good idea to sit down with an employment specialist to assess your options. 4. Faculty Yes your teachers can be a great pathway to amazing career opportunities! They are sometimes experienced professionals in fields and if they know you, like you and are familiar with your workcan give you sparkling recommendations or even put you directly in touch with a job lead. Be sure to keep in your professors or instructors good books! 5. School Sponsors Every University or College these days have major sponsors whether it be a soft drink brand or a digital tech firmthe list is varied and long! And campuses usually have several of them who have donated monies to expand the school in some way.
